I can only guess what you do. Suppose you have Internet DSL or CATV (cable). You have a wireless laptop and apparently some other PC. You want everyone to have access to the Internet. That said, you need a router and a wireless access point or wireless router. The modem signal is fed into the Internet through a WAN router cross or straight CAT5 cable. The PC is connected wirelessly cat 5 cable or by right. Your router is actually a dial-up modem used by multiple computers and is not suitable for broadband access and because can not not wireless SSID broadcast.
